CRANBURY—It’s a sleepy Saturday morning on a Middlesex Main Street. Families, people with dogs, and joggers can be seen from time to time. Cranbury Pizza, Gil & Bert’s, and Cranbury Bagel Barn make a culinary triad within today’s larger Tri-town Bagel Triad.
You enter, and it’s deli-style; no seating. To compensate, there are two tables outside the front of the shop. Friendly staff, especially our cashier that morning, give the Main Street shop a hometown feel, albeit a much smaller town than Hamilton/Robbinsville, where Bagels n Cream resides. Plastic bags for bagels? A little weird, but it will do for the short term. Plastic-bag flavor may be possible in the case of long-term storage.
THE BAGELS are good. There’s a reason this was a stop on the Tri-town Bagel Triad. Being that it was our third stop of the morning, the prospect of downing an entire pumpernickel was slightly unpalatable, even for a seasoned bagel veteran. But we had to go forward for you, the bagelreader(s) of NJ.
WE BAGELRATED a multigrain and a pumpernickel, both plain.
